BASIC EQUIPMENT. |
The bench + working the thighs.
 The simple multistation.
Choose one with adjustable bar supports. The bench must be adjustable from at least horizontal to vertical. If possible, if there are any, one which can be set in decline position. One major brand, whose name I keep to myself, sells a fantastic model. I have never seen anything better in this field, whether as regards strength or the number of adjustments possible. It is difficult for once, being unable to give the name. | |
The PULLEY. |
High pulley for dorsals and triceps.
 High pulley.
This model, practically the standard model just 30 years ago in bodybuilding gyms, has completely disappeared. However, it is relatively easy to make if you are a handyman. It is essential to plan two bearings, work is uncomfortable with just one.

The TOPS. |
The bench + back + working the thighs. |

The advantage with these multistations is that they include pulleys to work the dorsals and the triceps.

THE SOLUTION:
BUILD YOUR OWN BENCH.
TO BE AVOIDED |

Abdominal bench. It works the iliopsoas and eventually pulls on the lumbar vertebrae. You end up with serious lumbar pain!
A bench, dumbbells and a good old pulley, are a hundred times more efficient than these expensive and sophisticated machines!
And anyway, even with one of these machines, you will still have to buy a bench, they cannot do everything. |
