Glycogen

GLYCOGEN is our "Premium grade" fuel.
It is the fuel of intensive efforts, stored in the muscles and liver.
     GLYCOGEN + OXYGEN = ENERGY
Glycogen is always bound to water:
              1 g of glycogen binds 2.7 g of water.
The body can store up to 600 g of glycogen. It is therefore not an endless reservoir and its limits are quickly reached, forcing the athlete to slow down.
    Glycogen is derived from carbohydrates:
Sugar, fruits, bread, rice, cereals, potatoes, etc.
It takes 48 hours to renew your stock of glycogen, but reconstitution is slower in case of lipid intake.
