The SQUAT is the most complete exercise for the thighs. If you had to choose a single exercise, this would be the one.
But ...
there are risks if the back is not positioned correctly or strong enough.
Beginners should avoid it. Read the "Squat folder" for more information.
Without a wedge under the heels, it works the quadriceps and the glutei. With a wedge, it takes some of the load off the glutei and increases the load on the quadriceps.
It also works the lumbars and the hamstrings.
